BONUS DEPRECIATION

The bonus depreciation on capital equipment has been increased to 50% for assets acquired on or after May 6, 2003 and before January 1, 2005. This bonus depreciation is in addition to regular first year depreciation. The bonus depreciation, when combined with a typical seven year asset depreciation plan, allows a company to write off up to $57,000 on a $100,000 capital equipment purchase in the first year!

EXAMPLE:

· $100,000 machine acquired on a Integrity “Capital” lease

· $57,000 Bonus Depreciation Deduction in the first year! (50% depreciation plus regular first year depreciation)

· $19,950 approximate first year tax savings on acquisition of capital equipment for business in 35% tax bracket $57,000 x .35 = $19,950.

Example a: You could order by June 15th (just picking a date), Install on August 1st, with first and last payments in advance (on a 60-month lease with a 10% Buyout) and the out-of-pocket investment to get that tasty deduction would be only, $2,039 X 2 or $4,078, plus the next payment that is due in September, then October, November and December for a total of 6 payments at $2,039 or $12,234.00 to get a $57,000 deduction.

BUT...
it just keeps getting better!

Example b: You could order by June 15th (again, just picking a date), Install on August 1st, with ZERO down and No payments for 60 days (on a Zero down, 60-day deferred, 60-month lease with a 10% buyout and a monthly payment of $2,120.00). There are no payments due for August or September (60 days). That leaves Oct, Nov. and Dec. for three monthly payments at $2,120 or a mere $6,360.00 to use/own a $100,000.00 piece of your equipment from August 1st to December 31st and to get a $57,000.00 Depreciation Deduction…

Seriously…What is not to like!

Increased Small Business Expensing - Small businesses, whose equipment purchases of all kinds do not exceed $400,000, may be able to expense the first $100,000 of capital equipment purchases for 2003, 2004, and 2005. A qualifying small business that buys a $100,000 machine can now expense it all in the first year!
